Current WPX Rule:
/3. Classic Operator (CLASSIC): The entrant will use only one radio, no
QSO finding assistance, and the one radio must not be able to receive
while transmitting. Operator Assisted entries are not eligible for this
category./
New WPX Rule:
/The Single Operator Classic Overlay categories will continue to
prohibit the use of QSO alerting systems and should be considered by
participants preferring to be unassisted. Also, the maximum operating
time for Single Operator Classic Overlay participants has been reduced
from 36 to 24 hours. Further, the Multi-Operator Single Transmitter High
and Low Power Classic Overlay categories have been removed from the rules./
I guess I don't understand why the maximum operating period for the Classic
Category has been reduced? It's not like you can cheat because you can only use
one radio and no QSO finding assistance. It would be pretty easy to find out if
someone was cheating by looking at their log. And why remove/Low Power Classic
Overlay Single-Op category? /Same goes for CQWW DX only limiting Classic
Category to only 24 hours. This makes no sense. I would sure like to hear a
reasonable explanation on this from both K3WW and K1AR. As a traditionalist
contester I would hate to see the Single-Op Unassisted Category go away in
contests.
