Simple, yes. Effective, not sure, unless you like hoarding callsigns.

1) It still had to be deliberately setup with the help of macros;
2) It won't QSY in search of other stations, or if the frequency is 'taken'
from it;
3) It won't call a station, only reply to one;
4) This particular one was also a DX station (HS), a VE3 won't likely
attract that much attention;
5) If you know it to be a bot, feel free not to work it. If you don't know
it, how does it negatively impact your side of the contact?

A lot of other shenanigans are happening all the time. It's your choice
whether you participate or not.
