Hi Rudy,
With utmost respect, I don't understand your sentiment.
You're offended Dayton is reduced to county fair status, but you weren't
offended when it spent most of its life reduced to a sewage-infused fifth-tier
hockey game?
I remember walking up to Hara for the first time quite disillusioned: the most
important (at the time) ham radio gathering in the world is at a shit-hole like
this? Seriously? That was 23 years ago.
And then I went on to have the time of my life.
Not sure the need to prejudge the new location.
And, I think the variety of comments here (move it to Vegas! Move it to Cinci!
Move it to Columbus!, etc.) is a pretty good indication, aside from time being
a major consideration, as to why DARA kept the consideration of a new facility
in house. I'm sure the last thing they needed was the analysis paralysis that
opening it up to a public forum would generate.
It's the event that makes the event. Not the location.
