| Kudos to Bill and John. I will be QRV in a few hours, breaking the
surly bonds of the CQ-Contest reflector. I am operating down in a hole,
in a CC neighborhood with simple, hidden wire antennas. I cannot win, I
cannot make the top 20. It was my decision to pick this house and this
town and I, and only I, am responsible for those decisions. It would
not feel right to suggest changing the scoring methodology for my
decisions. I knew the rules when I bought this QTH.
I operate because it's a lot of fun. The adrenalin rush from rate is
cool; saying "hi" to old friends is also cool. Staying sharp for when I
can win from elsewhere is important, as is keeping my callsign in other
people's heads. Beating last years score is icing on the cake.
See you all at 0000Z...

And the beauty of this sort of scoring is that you no longer need to
do log checking. In fact I am not sure you even need to get on
the radio. Or even own radios.

The good news is that this will leave more time for continued drivel on
this channel focused on how "I'm smarter than you" and so forth.
Meanwhile, one of the best contests of the year is taking place tonight and
only W5VX is talking about it. Congrats to Bill for the win as it's
obvious no one else will be on.
I can't help but wonder how far Bill lives from the East Coast of if he
lives on a mountain. I'm sure all of you have the same questions. Only time
will tell in his 3830 post, but, of course that's on a different band from
this one.
