You want meaningful? How about Zip+4!

:-)

Leave the existing contest exchanges as they are. If you
want a "meaningful" exchange, create a new contest (call it
the "Meaningful Exchange Contest" or MEC) for those who want
it.

I have enough "meaning" in my life, I don't need it in
contests. The "meaningful" sweepstakes exchange is more
than enough (for me) in that category.

I hope all of you who have posted on this topic to the
reflector have also
e-mailed the contest advisory committee with your comments.
Also, we should
consider some other options, such as are there contests we
can influence on
a much shorter timeline? Most of the "newer" contests do
use a fairly
meaningful exchange, such as the sprints and the internet
sprint.

A 2nd thought is that even geographically derived exchanges
are less than
exciting. CQWW with computers and accurate cty files is
pretty much a no
brainer anymore. Serial numbers are the best in my mind,
but those of us
with computers should generate random 5 digit serial
numbers. No more
sitting in line and knowing what you're serial number will
be when you get
through the pileup! Totally possible to do and log check
accuratly. 5
digits is a pretty good challenge and it would allow unique
numbers even for
multi ops who do over 9999 q's.
