Hi, Jimmy --
I agree. In addition, anyone could go around all weekend and call CQ
Contest in the CFZ with callsigns of stations that they wanted to to DQ or at
least harass. Any "policing" of the CFZ rule under those circumstances would
provoke an outburst of accusations and recriminations a magnitude of which
hasn't been seen yet on this reflector.
"It wasn't me!"
"Was too. I've got you on tape."
"But it wasn't me."
Ad nauseum.
Keep it simple, including the rules.

PUUULLLLEEEZZZEEE GUYS! Can we get back ON TOPIC.
If you want to discuss CODE vs NO-CODE (for ANY reason),
please condiser taking it to rec.radio.amateur.policy,
I think that's where the most virulent discussion is
presently being carried on.
Let's get back to contesting... and other bitching.

Your probably right but it was the fact as a tech-plus that I could
operate the 10 meter contest in 1993 and make 800+ contacts that made me
think that this contesting stuff is really neat and I better upgrade
because there are lots of other contests that I can't do squat on as a
tech-plus. At this time my CW wasn't too great, and I was no match for
the speed-demons ... I could copy 5-10 wpm then fine but there isn't much
slow cw contesting so I did 98% of the contest on phone because finding
anyone between 28.100 and 28.200 was hard.
I was a general in a few weeks and soon advanced.
That contest also hooked a few others who were techs or tech pluses on
contesting. Some have upgraded, some haven't.
I only detest those who complain they can't use HF but won't go through
with what the rest of us did. If someone is happy where they are fine
with me. I wasn't happy as a
I really miss the decent propagation -- I found some great CW contacts in
teh 15 meter novice band a few years ago before I upgraded. Now most of
my CW is in the general portion of 40 meters ragchewing here and there.

Anybody have any experience or knowledge about the 99 preset option. They
put me on a 3 month hold abt 5 months ago. I wonder what the problem is.
