I would think that there might some serious settling problems once the base is poured. Can you get to a firm soil layer within 6-feet of surface? It might a REAL GOOD idea to check with a contractor or soils engineer for a little advice (not necessarily a soils/footing design) about the ability of the subsurface material to support the load.
