For several years I have wanted to see how many QSOs could
be made on a single band during FD. So this past weekend
I fired up on 20m SSB and ran a few stations. I turned the
A/C up a few notches - or is that down, turned the amp on and
pointed the 204ba's at each coast.
WB5VZL 1 Alpha -- well I was using a Henry but there
is not a 1-Henry class!
20m single band - 17 hours operating time.
QSOs 2845 raw -- 749 dupes! -- 2096 diffrent calls.
The first hour was a 199 - starting at 0141z i had a 212 hour.
The first 10 hours netted an average of 172/hr.
I worked all of the sections - North Texas was the last
section to get be worked - and I only worked a 2 or 3 of them.
I did not work very much DX.
I thought about doing 24 hours - but I had statyed up way too
late the night before - I worked the BS7 - about 10mins after they
showed up.
oh - yeah this was all done on 14.226 Mhz -- thanks for all the qsos.
Worst use of phonetics: WD0HND -- Have a Nice Day. please!
And as always - what is it that makes folks want to call CQ FD
zero beat on me? I mean I am loud, I am running folks at
better than 150/hr and some guys will spend 1 - 5 mins calling
CQ FD on top of me? go figure.
The pileup was at least 5 to 10 stations for the first 10 hours.
I am going to make a list of the calls that worked me the most
number of times - if anyone is intrested I will share this.
No meters like 20 meters!
