I believe Bill is correct. However, since K3LR's intended use is to
repair a bad monoband 40m plate choke, the temperature specifications of
the wire are not important. I'm sure Bill would agree with me that a
properly designed plate choke should never run hot. The only temperature
rise should be from the radiated heat of nearby tubes. When a plate
choke shows thermal damage, it is usually caused by an undesired
self-resonance, which is normally not an issue on a monoband amplifier.

is made so that it can be stripped with just the heat of a soldering
iron. Real hi temp wire has enamel that will not melt at soldering
temps and must be stripped mechanically with a knife or other means.
