A full set of power supply caps and the equalizing resistors,
A spare set of rectifier diodes
(as an alternative - consider a complete power supply board)
spare set of parasitic suppressors
a spare metering board
The original T/R relay (in case f PIN diode failure).

Hi all...
I'm prepping for a trip to Africa and plan to take an AL572 (cheap,
light, dispensable, plentiful, and does about 1200w out). While I
realize there are better amp choices in terms of durability, etc. this
is the one I've chosen with the above factors in mind. It is going to
be the primary amp in an SO2R setup, and if it fails, I still have a
secondary pretty solid (Acom) amp I can put into primary. I'll also
have the QSK board installed. Over a week I'd expect to put about 150
hard hours on the amp.
So, if you were taking the AL572 with you to a place where parts are
non-existent, and wanted to have a chance of keeping the amp online in
100+F heat in a rugged duty cycle (fast CW, fast SSB) what would you
take? My plan is the following:
- spare set of tubes
- plate choke
- a couple spare HV caps for the PS
Are there other things that would be smart to take along? I'm thinking
along the lines of what's reasonable to both take along, and field
repair with - and while a spare set of tubes is marginal in that
sense, it seems to me that at least with 572Bs it might not be a bad
idea. Also any areas of the AL572 that are inherently weak?
Anything else? I'd also be interested in hearing about any other mods
folks would suggest to strengthen the amp for the long haul (I've seen
the W8JI mods).
Thanks,
