It is working now. I took the meter cover off and "unstuck" it.
I panicked and assumed it was bad. Thanks for the encouragement to examine it,
Louis.

</div>did you tap the meter to see if it falls back to zero? Is the meter
needle bend? Shorting HV to ground shouldn't ruin the meter. You most likely
had the meter in Ip instead of HV. You should be able to adapt an Ameritron
meter by changing the plate meter shunt resistor and making the meter face fit.
That is the only replacement I know of unless you duplicate the scale on to a
different meter sand reshunt.

It is staying pinned to the right with power turned off.

Maybe you didn't zap it. Remove everything off the 2 terminals of the meter so
the meter is by itslef, check it with an ohm meter and see if the meter
responds. If it does the meter should still be good. They check the diodes
across it. Separate them and check each one, one might be shorted. Check for
opens in any of the 1 meg meter series resistors in the HV string. Report back
with findings.

I have apparently zapped my clipperton L meter by shorting the high voltage. Is
there any option for a replacement?
