Bare Aluminum if real can make a real good IR reflector. If you can make it so
that it reflects the IR to the case it may work even better.

yes but the temperature of the alu. sheet is much less than the tube still and
the the heat absorbed by the
aluminum sheet is related to its temperature in Kevin raised to the 4th power.
So if it does rise
50 or 70 degrees C it will not change its ability to absorb heat by much.

Yes, if the shield is bonded to the chassis, and as long as the chassis is
at a lower temperature than the shield, then there will be a heat flow to
the chassis. However, the devil is in the details, and if the shield and the
chassis are made of aluminum, say .063" thick, then I'd guess the thermal
transfer would be small compared to the heat generated by the tubes.
