Remember: by definition the RMS voltage is already equal to the DC voltage
that does the same work. That means 5V RMS is equal to 5VDC!
The RMS value of a 7 Volt peak source would be equal to 5V RMS/

Hi Gents,
 
Just for some future info here....If I use regulated DC to power 
the filaments on any tube, and let's say the required voltage is
5 volts AC, shouldn't (or couldn't) the 
DC value be 5 x .707= ~3.54 VDC?
