Hi Lee,

 What does it do on the other bands...?

 It almost sounds as if the amplifier is being loaded strictly by paralleled
fixed padder caps --- like the lead to the variable cap has somehow been
broken.

 Does this amp use padders on 40...? Some do --- here in my HB 2x813 amp,
the only band that does NOT use any is 20-meters.

 Very curious indeed...!
