Good heavens, Rich, that's far too old fashioned for the modern digital age!
You have to keep up with the times, so you need a box of digital electronic
gadgetry controlled (if you're lucky!) by a PC running complicated software
that nobody (not even the writer of it) really understands, and with the
capability of failing and letting the full fault current of the mains into the
amp under test.
I just use a lamp myself.........
