I have the older model (which I bought used last year). It's a great little
amp! It WILL trip if SWR goes high, even for a very short time. I noticed
mine kept tripping and I couldn't figure out why until I realized it was every
time I drove under an overpass on 40 or 75m. The upper bands seem less prone
the SWR spike around overpasses, but then again, I don't use the amp much on
20m & up.
In my case, the amp is right behind the passenger seat in my Ranger Extended
cab, so I have no need for remoting. The new style relay-type bandswitching is
not required.

I would look here for eham reviews, I would say if you were going to buy a
used one get the serial number and look on the Ameritron site to see if it
needs the $60 remote module or the 160 remote module:)
