Re scope being offered at $3000
I think perhaps the vendor has left the decimal point out between the thirty
and the two zero's on the right, seems to me that is about what it would be
worth.

I have not used that switch but have purchased antenna hardware (radial
plate / tilt over mount / radials / etc) from DX Engineering and was very
impressed with the quality and attention to detail. Had occasion to speak
to Roberto there and he was very courteous and informed.
Anything I may need in the future if it is carried by them I'll purchase
it....I do not work for them..just a satisfied customer.

I know this is a bit off topic but I had to show this. This is a 1960
model HP scope, 15 MHz. I always thought that things "depreciated" over
time, you'll see.

Sheesh! And I just gave away a Tek 547 30 Mhz
storage scope with a CA plugin working fine for free.

I wrote the guy on E-Pay and asked him, "Dear bird_carpenter,
just curious why your price is so high for something that's almost
impossible to give away at flea markets! Is it made of gold or platinum?"
Can't wait to see what he answers, c'mawn! Mebbe some CB "repair" shop will
steal this "rair" item fer their bench!

These APT Mosfets are good for high power amps but not for linear operation.
The only linear amp design with APT mosfets I know of so far is a 6m 300W
amplifier. See application note APT9802 (
http://www.eetkorea.com/ARTICLES/2001APR/2001APR20_AMD_RFD_AN6.PDF ). I have
a collection of other related articles and data sheets at
http://dk9ip.ba-karlsruhe.de/pdf/mosfetpa
So far I have no experience with this type of amplifier. Any hints
concerning a kW broadband linear amp using HV Mosfets are appreciated.
I have build a 100V power supply using 4 Lambda PH300F280 24V/300W DC-DC
converters in series with 300V input (no transformer). These DC-DC
converters can sometimes be found on flee markets. Another manufacturer is
Astec. See http://dk9ip.ba-karlsruhe.de/pdf/dcdc for data sheets and
applications.

Have anybody checked the "FinnFET" amps? They are using FET's and are
running a cool KW all bands.

My new AL-80B will be here in a few days and I wonder if like the 811H there
are some "must have" mods? Anything from Measures on this amp? TY
