The BC375 switch is fine for 1kW, thanks to Peter it's in my linear, see also

have:

6-POSITION CERAMIC TAP SWITCH for 100 W BC-375 xmitter; 2.3x2.3x1.8, 1 lb. NEW
#3Z9605 $3.95 ea 10 for $32.00

These switches will stand a lot of volts and amps. They have 30 degree indexing,
and a fairly heavy duty indexing mechanism. There was an article in CQ 12 or
more years ago on ganging two of them. You'd have to try them at 4kV, but I feel
they would manage. You might be able to use the parts to build something with
more volts if needed. The price is not likely to break the piggy bank, either.
