Problem with Henry 2KDSwap the tubes to the opposite sockets, and see
if the brighter one moves, or the darker one is now the
brighter one.
You have probably also zapped a padder capacitor in
the tuning or loading section of the tank.
Please report what you find.

Subject: [AMPS] Problem with Henry 2KD
Let me begin by saying that I did a very bad thing to my henry!=20
Here is how it went.=20
I was preparing to tune up on 80M. I let it warm up for a few minutes =
and applied=20
about 10W drive. Had the tune and load controls set to the nominal =
numbers from=20
previous use, BUT REVERSED. I.E. Not enough inductor and way too =
much load C.=20
To top this off, I had the bandswitch in the 40M position. So I had a =
SEVERE=20
output matching error.=20
Anyway, as I was adjusting the tuning, I heard a klunk (sic?) and the =
RF output dropped=20
quite a bit. I only had it up to about 100W out, or so. Definitely =
was not a high voltage=20
bang, but more mechanical in nature. Now I have to use the load =
control at almost full=20
meshed position and about 20 - 30 counts more on the roller inductor =
to get max power on=20
80M. Also 1 tube lights up a lot more than the other (very =
noticable). I opened it up to=20
have a look under the hood, and found no charcoal or shattered =
components. Not even the=20
smell of burnt electrical components. The AMP still makes about 1200W =
on 80M, but the=20
large change in tuning values concerns me, as well as the tubes not =
being "balanced".=20
I suspect that I have killed one tube and damaged the other.=20
1986 vintage 2KD Classic, Pair 3-500Z (Eimac)=20
Any help would be appreciated.=20
