The inverter I've got is a 'pseudo sinewave' with, if I remember, 4 steps per
half cycle. Of course, when feeding an induction motor without too much
slip, it doesn't look too bad.
Maybe the motor generator is the way - as well as bringing back memories
of war surplus and dynamotors!
