There was a wonderful example of this a few years back when a book on
monopulse radar was published in the US. According to a guy I know who
worked at China Lake at the time, the US Navy were horrified and wanted it
suppressed because it contained what they called 'classified information'.
However, said book was an English translation of a Russian textbook.
According to my friend, when told this, the navy's response was that 'it was
still classified, and the Russians shouldn't have published it either.'
