The cathode is in the way, preventing the filament from hitting the
grid...and that would make the tube dead anyway so far as being
an amplifier.
The filament on occasion shorts to the cathode in the 8877.
Also, how does Henry run the cathode to the cathode return? Do
they have the cathode on its own choke or choke winding? Is it
common with the filament?
