Also...
It sounds similar to another problem I had with an amplifier. A
path short allowed the T/R relay supply to enter the HV chain.
Another Henry I repaired had a diode string which measured and
tested fine, but failed when you pulled >.200mA current through it.
That was the bizarre monster to find...
If you had a diagram to share, (of which I could post on sonic)
we could offer up some better ideas.
