Sounds reasonable. Most textbooks seem to support the concept of
cathode emission.

Not that important, I was just curious what the likely cause
of the quiescent current variation was.
I think the important point is the gain has little to do with
neutralization, since that is a feedback capacitance issue. Also that
idling current has little to do with gain.
