Hi George,

A fuse does nothing other than prevent long term thermal damage.

A look at Littlefuse's catalog shows that it takes a several 
hundred percent overload for seconds to open up some fast blow 
fuses.

Even ultra fast blow fuses are too slow for semiconductors, so your 
data sounds correct.
