I had to miss the first five hours of the contest due to work. I did not
officially get
on the air until 7pm local time. I did stop home and work a few on my lunch
break.
Bands seemed to be in pretty decent shape.
Last few hours of the contest seemed the longest. Did enjoy the opening to the
SW for a few multipliers on 6 meters. Was not able to work any all time new
grids however. 432 was extremely poor across the Lake Erie during the first
half
of the contest but did show improvement by the end.
Loudest station heard: WA8WZG (Only 4 miles west of me, need I say more), W8ZH.
Compliments: Glad to see so many op's had their KEY's handy or would not have
worked as many as I did. Seemed I worked more CW during this contest than I
have
before.
Observations:
To obtain a higher score I need the following;
1. More bands.
2. More power. **
3. More antenna's.
** Will have a dual purpose, stronger signal and add heat to my basement shack!!
Conclusion: Had fun working the contest. Now it is time to head back to the
HF bands
and try to get the 8Q while they are on the air. Hope all those to my east and
north get
their antenna's fixed and will be looking forward to hearing them back on the
bands.
