I'll add this from my latest experience regarding waterproofing
connections it does not stop from lightning strike from melting whatever
coatings you have...Had a SWR problem on 2M after I had storm dump 9" of
rain in 24 hours...A week later SWR was normal again but then I had to
lower tower for Hurricane Irma discovered tape was melted and deformed
on outside of female N connector attaching to 7/8 hardline male N
connector...I guess it only was on the outside ground of the connector
cause center conductors was not damaged ether on the jumper or the
hardline...Samuel

I tried some on some antennas and found that after a couple of years, I just wiped it off with a rag and the connections underneath were as clean as the day I put the antenna up. A lot easier to clean than glue and tape. I had one beam with a PL-259 connection and it was also nice and clean when I wiped it off. 73 Tom W7WHY On Sat, Oct 7, 2017 at 11:39 PM, Roger (K8RI) on TT < K8RI-on-TowerTalk@tm.net> wrote:One of the favorites (although I don't know by what percent) was wrapping the first layer with the sticky side out. It does leave the connectors nice and clean. OTOH there was a complaint about the hot melt glue from flooded heat shrink not adhering. IOW, to diametrically opposed approaches. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk_______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus ____________________________________________________________ We Say GoodBye To Sally Fields iflperfecttouch.com http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/59da6ab0ac10a6ab00b41st01duc _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk |
