I use the DXE RX 4-square in a 97'-side configuration -- a compromise to
enable use on 80m. Over the past 30 days from my QTH just west of Boston,
I've worked FT5GA, 3D2KJ, TO7RJ, K4M, and R1FJM on topband, missing 3D20CR
and ZY0T. Of the stations worked, only 3D2KJ and K4M were copiable on the
inverted L over 32 radials I use for TX.
The DXE RX array has performed very well here.

a reasonable price. I understand in reading the manual that it uses
8.5' whips for the verticals. Has anyone on this list used these
antennas? If so, can you comment on their performance and if they're
worth the money?

If the price is reasonable enough that is a good starting point. I have one
and think in its original configuration it has deficiencies. Although it
works I believe it can be improved. Check K7TJR's website and other sources.
I plan to increase the whips to 20 feet and make some other mods. There
should be others weighing in on this.
