Writelog does indeed need two characters after a call sign before
the
call sign will highlight. Garbage characters work fine.
You can verify this behavior yourself:
Open up Writelog.
Make sure garbage characters are not printing.
Left-click the title bar of the rttyrite window (where it says 60
wpm Baudot - rttyrite)
On your keyboard, type "W7WW" - the call will not highlight
Type one space - W7WW will still not highlight.
Type a second space - W7WW will then highlight.
Have you ever seen a case where a callsign at first does not
highlight, but about 5 seconds later it DOES highlight? What is
going on there is that a garbage character comes along to give
you the required second character.

???? Been using WL years, never saw that. Matter of fact, it even
finds known callsigns totally buried inside strings of garbage.
Don't
know about the current version, though.
