Hi Bob...
We have 2xFL7000 at 4U1ITU station (kindly sponsored by Yaesu)... I have used
one of them during the last EA-TTY contest...
- CQ'ing TTY you cannot reasonably exceed 250W without the PA going to "security
state" very often...
- Off course for very short periods of time you may switch the PA to SSB and get
more output... but the thermal security will also stop you very quickly.
Even in CW, you cannot use it at full output for extended CQ periods without
trigerring the thermal security....
My opinion is that it's a very nice PA for a DX'er or a casual operator, but
definitely not for a serious contester...

Hi All,
I have the opportunity to purchase an FL-7000 to use with my FT-1000MP. The
hand book says it should be run at 200W output on RTTY. Will it do 500W in
contest operation? Anyone out there using an FL-7000 for RTTY?
