- Spring is here, and the Beverage I put up in December didn't make it past the first round of spring thunderstorm. Even though I disconnected the antenna from the matching transformer, enough of a jol

- It so happens that I found an open terminating resistor on my 225ft 'shorty' Beverage recently. I tripped over the wire while mowing the front lawn, breaking it off where it connects to the ground ro

- Wow, this must be a commom occurance. I use three, 1 watt 220 ohm resistors in series for terminators. Every summer I go out and inspect these terminating resistors of my three beverages and they are

- Having over 30 antennas is a good test bed for proving reliability of a system. I can't afford to constantly check and replace resistors after storms. Despite being in Georgia, with frequent afterno

- Don, I usually just disconnect the wire input to my transformers, & fold it back on itself, for the "lightning season". Have not had any transformer failures using this method. All input connections

- Use a reasonably close-spaced spark gap across the resistors (making absolutely sure you use composition resistors of course). Same at the transformer end. One simple way to do that at the resistor
