Spring is here, and the Beverage I put up in December didn't make it past the first round of spring thunderstorm. Even though I disconnected the antenna from the matching transformer, enough of a jol

It so happens that I found an open terminating resistor on my 225ft 'shorty' Beverage recently. I tripped over the wire while mowing the front lawn, breaking it off where it connects to the ground ro

Wow, this must be a commom occurance. I use three, 1 watt 220 ohm resistors in series for terminators. Every summer I go out and inspect these terminating resistors of my three beverages and they are

Having over 30 antennas is a good test bed for proving reliability of a system. I can't afford to constantly check and replace resistors after storms. Despite being in Georgia, with frequent afterno

Don, I usually just disconnect the wire input to my transformers, & fold it back on itself, for the "lightning season". Have not had any transformer failures using this method. All input connections

"Just wondering what effective measures anyone has discovered to avoid this problem...." Don, The TO-220 termination resistor on one of my Beverages was blown to pieces in a storm a few weeks ago. Al

Use a reasonably close-spaced spark gap across the resistors (making absolutely sure you use composition resistors of course). Same at the transformer end. One simple way to do that at the resistor
