It was great to hear A45XR and A92IO with strong signals into the NE USA last night in relatively quiet condx around their sunrise. A92IO's signal popped up at least 2-3 s units in a 10 minute span.

The best omnidirectional "RUN" setup for 160M is using a transceiver with dual high performance receivers in stereo diversity so you can listen with two antennas simultaneously. I've used both the K3

As far as I'm concerned, the main objective would be to limit AGC action. Depending on the radio, this might mean turning down RF Gain/turning up AF Gain, increasing AGC Threshold, or turning off AGC

The noise occurs early AM, before sunrise. It was gone during the day and early evening yesterday. I made a new recording this morning and the rhythmic nature of the noise pulsation is very evident:
