Hi, I need an advice for low band antenna (80-40) which does not need good grounding system. So far I have 30' Rohn 25 attached to the house with 2 element shortened five-band beam on top of it. I tr

I want several bands from it so I used to have automatic antenna tuner there - SGC-237. It tuned 160...20 just fine and results on 20 was not too much different from shortened yagi. The thing is - I

So... What do I do? I cannot add more wire radials - there are 3 radials already each way from the tower, 3 feet apart. I remember reading about some aluminum "chicken mesh" used as radials. I think

Welcome to the club, Bob :) I had wrong impression that chicken mesh is aluminum... Nope, that's galvanized steel. I found one place which sell bronze, but the price is killing - 300 bucks for 50 fee

I got a roll of aluminum welding wire, the one which is 0.03"... The plan is to lay down 30 radials 30-35 feet long to test how much radiation resistance drops. I am just wondering- how long that wir

I got a roll of aluminum welding wire. The package has no length of it, only weight of 1 pound. My calculation shows about 350 meters of wire - enough to put 30+ radials. It it works well - i.e. Impe

Hi, I want to build an antenna for a Field Day or any other occasion, like going far away from my noisy house and enjoying low bands. The antenna I have in mind is 3 element delta loops for 80m band.

Speaking of military poles... I have not tried it myself due to small backyard, but "VHF Field Day" friend of mine told me that if you are stubborn enough and guy it very well you can go up to 30-40

The design I have in mind is here - http://dl2kq.de/mmana/lib/Loops/Switch/3el-slope_delta80.png It is 22 (or 24?) meter high non-conductive mast. Spacing between tops of the loops is about 6...7 fee

I have their MQ-26 beam - 2 elements / 6 bands. pros: small turning radius, 6 bands, acceptable diagram @ 15 and up cons: would not handle full power, the diagram @ 20m is almost circular, 20/15 band

Thanks Jim, I will read that :) Most likely, facing the frying problem, I will go with simple dipole or vertical delta. _______________________________________________ _______________________________

since we are talking about 30' short "tower" on the building roof, why not to use some sort of pipe instead of pretty heavy Rohn sections? I don't think it is a big deal to find or weld 9-10-12m long
