Wow, What a great discussion. Lot's of opinions on both sides of the issue. I think this is great, and worth the contest sponsors time and effort to think it over, and I hope they do. I have been in

Simple question, would MultiPSK Panoramic RTTY mode be SO2R? It does allow multiple reception all be it in the audio band pass. RYRY 73 Steve VE4LR _______________________________________________ RTT

Just two throw my two bits in again I think the definitive part of SO2R is that you can RECEIVE WHILE TRANSMITTING. That means multiple-receive-channel radios or software is not enough. 73, doug Simp

Steve, "Come here lookin' fer trouble, eh, pard'ner?" :-) If a mode can be done on *one* transceiver, IMO it's SO1R. That's still a *simplex* configuration in my eyes. You can't rx and tx at the same

If the RX is off when the TX is on, it's SO1R. The advantage of SO2R is listening while transmitting. Bill, W6WRT -- REPLY SEPARATOR -- ORIGINAL MESSAGE: _____________________________________________

Bill makes a lot of sense with this. Look, the only policing that really works is 'self-policing.' The concept of this not being enforcable is a joke. No rule can really be enforced even if someone d

Bill, Not necessarily true. When I do RTTY SO2R, more often than not, I alternate CQs on 2 bands. As soon as R1 goes into rcve, R2 starts CQing. I've found it more productive than listening on the se

You say "not necessarily", but I don't see any disagreement. In your example, when one TX is on, so is the other RX. With SO1R you can either be in TX mode or RX mode but not both. Please clarify. Bi

But Barry, Bill was not talking about SO2R. He was replying to 'what consitutes SO1R?'. My observation is that you can have SO2R capability in your rig and only use SO1R by choice! It's not the rig t

Bill, When you said one is in rcve, I interpreted that as tuning the band while xmtg on the other radio, when in fact, I'm just copying an exchange or station calling. You win this round :.) 73, Barr
