If contest sponsors want to say "no single operator may use a
receiver capable of receiving while transmitting on any other
frequency" that's fine. However, it is not their right to say
HOW the operator may use that receiver if it is permitted.

If the purpose of the contest is to work as many stations as
possible using CW, the contest sponsors do not have the right
to say whether the RF is demodulated by analog or digital means,
whether the receiver uses L/C, crystal, mechanical or DSP filters,
or whether the operator perceives the signal as a tone, flashing
light, a vibrating device or characters on a CRT, LED or LCD
device.

The rules have to be the same for ALL users. They should not
allow one group of single operators - those for whom the RF
is demodulated to an audio tone - to use a second receiver
and prohibit another class of single operators - those for
whom the RF is demodulated to light - from using a second
receiver. That is simply unfair.

Placing those "single operators" who both demodulate the signal
visually and use a second receiver into a separate class where
they must compete against those who receive assistance from
other operators is the same as prohibiting the simultaneous
use of visual reception and second radios.
