Many years ago I had a similar problem with an Omni V. I took it to Ten-Tec and they fixed it while I waited. According to the invoice the "monitor board" was not grounded. I am not familiar with a monitor board and I think this may be the technician's reference to the sidetone board, which was known to cause problems when the power supply was very close to the rig.
