When using adapter cables that are short you can use brass chain from 
the bulk roll at the hardware stores to fasten a clamp for the cable 
onto it, then clamp or screw the other end of the chain to the back of 
the radio.  You won't lose your adapter cable unless you then lose the 
radio!
