In the meantime, many of the domain hosting companies offer packages that
will host your site and support it with a very simple CMS. I use this for
two of my four sites because for me, ease of managing content is much more
important than flexibility with the design.
For the other two, I inherited an existing site and am forced to use what
they were built with.
Some of the hosting companies (providers) have a try and buy.
You can build your own site for 30 days and decide if you want to go with
that or not.
Before I built my dj0ip.de site, I found a provider in the states and built
a nice web site. I liked it better than what I use now. Unfortunately they
could not host my ".de" domain; they only wanted to support ".com", ".net",
or ".org". So I did not buy, and switched to a German hosting company.
On the other two sites I manage, I am forced to use CS3 which is much more
difficult to use, but offers more flexibility in the design. I make changes
to these two so seldom, that I find myself swearing at their CMS system each
time I use them. I suppose if I made as many changes with them as I do with
my other two sites, it would be easier - but it will NEVER be anywhere close
to being so simple as the CMS I use for "dj0ip.de" and "aerial-51.com".
NEVER LET AN IT GUY CHOOSE WHICH CMS YOU USE.
These guys typically don't understand the problems we non-IT guys face.
Talk to friends who knew nothing about this and suddenly have a good looking
web site.
For sure they are using a simple CMS.
Anyone can have a nice web site within an couple of hours if you are willing
to spend these two hours working hard at learning. That's about all it
takes to get started. The hosting companies all have online tutorials that
show you how to use them.
Once you have your site up, spend the first few weeks playing with the look
and feel of your site. You will probably change it 2 or 3 times. Once
satisfied, you can then focus on uploading content.
One more thing; I never envisioned my site becoming as big as it is.
I have way over 300 pages and am rapidly approaching my limit.
After that I will have to delete pages (or merge pages) in order to have
free space for more content. You might ask about size limitations before
you choose one.
OR, some hosting sites just rent you server space and let you choose which
CMS program you wish to use. They support 3 or 4 popular systems. These
cost slightly more but are still reasonable.

I must read up more on this CMS thing. Right now my site ka9egw.com is way
out of date and is just plain html...editing it is work. Not in a hurry
though, with 3 deaths in the immediate family in the last year I haven't
