[TenTec] Paragon 586 AM filter question

I'm noticing a bit of band pass "ripple" when tuning through a signal using
the AM wide bandwidth filter.

Is that normal?  Is there any information on to correctly align the input
and output transformers on this filter?  I assume it does done by tuning
for maximum signal for a best match?  But, there is no information in the
manual.
