I suppose you mean that one example of that particular radio may have
had issues. My TS-590s does not. Mine sounds as (nearly) good as my
Omni VII. (This IS a TenTec group, after all...)
Besides, there are many variables which may have caused the lousy audio
you experienced. It is difficult for me to put much stock in a single
negative report without knowing all the facts and circumstances.
Maybe you should have it repaired under warranty. Kenwood seems to be
doing a good job on that score (at least on this particular rig, as its
indifference to customer issues on some previous models is.... well...
legendary.)
Of course, NOTHING sounds as good as a TenTec rig... but MY example of
that "other" radio sounds just fine even after a long day of operating.
