The TS-590S specs might compare favorably with the TT-599, but personally
having all eggs in the Ten-Tec basket doesn't seem a bad thing. A friend's
TS-50 quit recently, and mfg service told him they no longer work on those
"old" rigs. The TS-50 was discontinued about 5 years ago. I've talked with
Ten-Tec service about my 3 decade-old rigs and they still repair them ( if I
could afford the service ). Maybe this is an artifact of the new technology,
the new normal being a short useful life. When it breaks, throw into
landfill and buy a new one.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Anyone compared a Ten Tec Eagle to the Icom 7000?
I like the new rig, but have not been able to compare it directly to an
Eagle. It was a very difficult decision. My Omni VII was in the shop
at the time, and I wanted a "backup" rig, and this one had the most
features, like a receive-only antenna input, and some other goodies that
made the difference between it and the Eagle. Performance specs were
very close, so the choice came down to minor features and the fact I
wanted something else, so that all my eggs were not all in the same
manufacturer's basket. Lots of little reasons, nothing major. Works
differently from my Omni VII so it is a real learning experience.
I will be keeping my Omni VII ...

Happy Trails.

I don't know; do you like your new TS-590S? (I would think you would.)
Have you been able to compare it to the Eagle?
