Thanks, guys, for the  inputs on the 1253 receiver.  I'm just getting 
itchy to build a kit. Must be the winter WX.  Not sure what I want, yet, 
if not a receiver, then maybe a T-T 1300 series QRP transceiver or a 
Small Wonder Labs kit.  Maybe the appeal is the black panels and knobs 
and the white lettering on the Ten Tecs that remind me of the the WWII 
surplus gear I played with when I was a kid in high school!
