That doesn't sound like the typical A9 power board problem...you may have something else going on.

Subject: [TenTec] Orion Receiver Dying

Friends,

My Orion started acting up today. Basically, the receiver is
either dead at turn-on or it dies after a few minutes. The S-meter
freezes and the receive audio stops. The menus and buttons still work
fine and the display looks perfectly normal. It's just not processing
any RF.

Does this sound like the power board caps?

I have done multiple master resets, multiple RAM resets, and
multiple software re-loads but it still doesn't want to work. I've also
tried a different power supply. FWIW, I have never replaced the backup
battery in mine either. I'm not sure what the symptoms are of the
battery failing.
