Can't disagree with that Gary.
I was running a Corsair-1 when I bought the JST135 and at that time was into
Clover demanding a high degree of frequency stability which the Corsair
could not handle but the 135 did comfortably from immediate switch on and
still does.

Regarding the Corsair II and PSK-31. I don't have any problems using my
last production run Corsair II on PSK-31. What drift there is from cold
start to stable is about 200 Hz over twenty minutes.

Perhaps I should have said the second hand price arena looking recently
at
$675 for Corsair2 plus VFO as an example.
My input was not intended to evoke an "us and them" scenario or digress
into the world of car manufacture but now you mention it my trusty 1983
(GM) Opel Ascona
is still running on it's original Koyo wheel bearings.
Due to the fact my Corsair is not stable enough for PSK31 my second rig
is
a JRC JST135, slated by QST on its debut and not necessarily everyones
cup
of tea, I find as solid as a rock.
I think Ten Tec are very lucky to have such a faithful following, myself
one of them.
My point was very expensive rigs whatever their origin that chirp
require
constant tweaking or (and only what I read) in the case of the Orion
unfulfilled software I find unacceptable.

First off, they are not in the same price range, the OMNI, even new was
half the cost of the other ones you mention. Secondly, all, and let me
say that again, ALL , radio equipment have / has problems! The first
YAESU FT-1000MP I go worked for about 20 seconds and then went DEAD!
The
dealer actually had to talk to YAESU to get permission for me to send
it
back, Chip Margelli was the CEO then and gave them permission. The
second
one worked fine for many years but now the RIT control is
malfunctioning
and probably just a dirty plug on what ever board it is connected to
and
will eventually get around to opening it up and fixing it! Kenwood is
now
almost out of business because of the rotten rice boards and the plated
through hole going open! Look at the problems TOYOTA is having and
KILLING PEOPLE ! You can't believe in any STUFF ...............

As I almost went down the Omni 6 plus road do I read correctly that a
modern
transceiver competing in the same price arena as the Icom Pro or the
FT
1K
series not only chirps but requires regular tweaking?

Did that and check again regularly.
