Looks like my theatrical lighting gel application found another use!  I 
was able to cut a thin strip of it the width of the display and make the 
ticks on it.  I used a very light color gel that made that area just a 
bit different in color from the main gel.  BTW, both gels stay in place 
with no adhesives.
