Dave,
I presume you know that pressing the SubAF knob in will silence the
SubRX, right? (You mentioned turning down the AF/RF - not necessary.)

Dear Orion 2 users.
Ive had the new s/w installed for a couple of weeks, and generally I
really
like most of the changes. I don't get any problems with the display
however
I am running colour 3 (English spelling) in the LCD menu options which
doesn't have any Red in it so I wonder if all the other guys are running
Colour 1?
I like the improvement in the CW side tone -before it was pretty bad at
times and even sounded like a slugish bug key.
I am not able to completely turn off the 2nd receiver by turning down the
A/F gain (R/F gain High and 7Mhz at night) I can still hear stations. So I
have to turn down the R/F as well.
At one time I was pressing buttons to go split and the 2nd receiver stuck
on
7.016Mhz. Rotating the 2nd VFO knob changed the Freq display but didn't
change the receive Audio that was still on 7.016. I had to switch the rig
OFF/ON and it started to work OK. I did have this on the old S/W so may
be I
caused the problem - getting old.
I like the Blue flying widget but it would be nice to see a graticule i.e
vert bars as a measure of off freq. If its out of the band I dont want to
QSY hi...
I mostly operate CW so Im sure Ive missed a lotta of other good features.
As
a CW rig its great, however diode switching instead of a reed relay would
have been the bees knees.

Once mine goes red...I have to turn sweep off/on to get it going right
again...That's not a feature.

Didn't someone point out that a type of sound card software uses a red
screen to indicate when there has been an overload in the signal path?
A number of sound card programs work this way. Transient signals have
been reported just before someone notices the red screen. I would say
this is a reasonable warning signal that too much gain, or a very large
transient has been received.
