Hi Jim,
The Centurion is a pair of 3-500Z running in zero-bias mode (something
like 2500Vdc on the plates), so the power gain is much lower than the
Titan amps with the 3CX800s. Driving the Centurion is more or less like
driving a Drake L-7 or an SB-220. You typically need on order of 100 to
120 watts to get "full power" which is typically around 1200 watts (a
little more if you have a stiff main and lots of drive power).
That said, I still agree that the less than perfect input VSWR shouldn't
be an issue for most exciters.
