Plastic bubble wrap works well, too, even though it's not 'Fung Shoey' either :~) !

I went on a shack-quieting tirade this past year. The main noise-maker was a desktop computer that got a new ultra-low-noise power supply, CPU cooler and case fan. Also now running an ACOM 2000A linear which is dead silent. I must have knocked the ambient noise level down 20-30 dB.

Something I have done for years is to put memory foam under all the
amps I've had. A 1" piece will absorb an incredible amount of fan
noise. Granted it does not meet the fang sway <G> approach to an
impeccible shack but it alone will help just about every amp become
quieter.

The 425 is so light without the transformer that it rests higher on
the foam than any other amp I've used in a long time.

I really dislike noise in the shack, my computer uses a water cooled
heatsink with a remote water pump and 50' of tubing. That keeps the
processor cool and the noise down to the sound of the hard drive
spinning. I have a music studio in the same room using the same
computer and it's far quieter than a laptop with fan.
