When you go into transmit, but with no power out, does the meter drop to
zero? If it doesn't, I would suspect the mechanical zero. If it does, it
sounds like something more serious!

and no antenna. Tried changing the agc threshold - no change. Doesn't
make any difference what mode the agc is set to either.
I think it has been like this since I got it new about a year ago. I
just assumed it was very generous until I started switching rigs and
noticed it was s-5 with no antenna.
Whatever happened to the boat anchors with a mechanical meter zero?
Well, even my Drake 4B twins don't have that, hi. But I think my
Hammarlund HQ-110 did.
