This is an excellent way to handle switching where one has a non-QSK transceiver or one that does not provide a keying loop.

I use a Centurion with an Omni-C. I plug my key into the amplifier and put
a jumper cable from "Key Out" on the amp over to the Omni. It shouldn't
matter the delay because the amp will not key the rig until it is ready. I
experience no trouble even at 35 or 40 wpm with the keying done that way.

I am considering purchasing an Elecraft K3. This radio does not,
unfortunately, have a QSK keying loop to directly
interface with my Tentec amps. Does someone on this reflector know the
delay in the collective relays of either/both the
Tentec Titan (original) or Hercules II amps? This would be useful in
setting up QSK in an alternative way--without a
keying loop. I would guess on the order of 5 msec or so, but would
like hard numbers to mull over.
